BASKUT TUNCAK was appointed Special Rapporteur on the human rights implications of hazardous substances and wastes by the United Nations (U.N.) Human Rights Council in 2014.
Mr. Tuncak is an international lawyer, specializing in laws and policies on the management of toxic chemicals and other environmental issues. He is currently a senior researcher at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute, Lund University, Sweden and a visiting scholar at American University Washington College of Law. Previously, Mr Tuncak was a senior attorney with the not-for-profit Center for International Environmental Law and has served in advisory roles with the UN Environment Program.
